WORKSHOP 1

Created via a series of prompts where participants had to remember a meaningful place on Earth. They were then led through a sensory guided meditation that invited them to imagine a fictional planet. These are responses to a juxtaposition of memories of a real place (I remember), and a fictional imagined planet or place (Here I see.)

LEE

I remember the sound of sheets drying on the clothesline.
I remember hearing the mangoes falling on the ground with a thud.
I remember a baby crying in the distance.
I remember hearing a car starting.
I remember workers loading a truck.
I remember the rain falling on the roof.
I remember the dog rushing to the door.
I remember hearing dogs barking in the distance.
I remember the women talking as they washed clothes in the river.
Here, I see a fisherman pulling the boat towards the shore.
Here, I see trees and vegetation unrecognizable.
The atmosphere was quiet.
Here, there is a heaviness in the air. It is still with the unknown. Here, there was a sadness in the air after a lovely day at sea.
Here, I see the sun low in the horizon. The awkwardness of quiet.
