WORKSHOP 1
This work was created via a series of prompts where participants had to remember a meaningful natural place on earth. They were then asked to design “planets” out of collage materials of topographical images of Earth and outerspace. They were then asked to write to observations around the collage imagery and craft a 10 line poem combining their remembrances of the natural world (I remember) and visuals from their collaged planets (Here I see).
Here I see patches of ice at the pole.
I remember the otter fishing among the ice flows.
Here I see a blue-green ocean at the other pole.
I remember ice on the lake breaking and floating away as Winter turned into Spring.
Here I see a blue irregularly shaped moon (or is it an asteroid?)
I remember the dark sky full of stars in mid-summer and the chorus of creaking frogs.
Here I see a band of clouds across the equator.
I remember the crisp air and the orange and yellow shades of the distant mountains in Fall.
Here I see empty space.
I remember the utter silence of Winter and the gently falling snow accumulating on the trees.
